Kobold Watch

The Kobold Watch Co. is an American watch manufacturing company. It was established by the young entrepreneur and watch maker, Michael Kobold. The company specializes in manufacturing rugged and durable wrist instruments designed to withstand extreme and adverse environments. Its products are mostly intended for professionals who require accuracy and reliability in a wristwatch.

Kobold watches are made from a variety of high caliber materials. These include aerospace-grade titanium, scratch proof sapphire crystal, and surgical stainless steel. Each watch is powered by mechanical movement and is tough enough to withstand the harshest conditions.

Kobold takes pride in designing his watches himself to make each piece meet his expectations of quality. He further guarantees this quality by producing no more than 2,500 Kobold watches yearly. The company's main manufacturing facility is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Kobold Spirit of America Automatic

The Spirit of America is the result of Kobold's venture to manufacture a timepiece entirely consisting of US-made components. Prior to this, Kobold had committed itself in assembling all of its watches in the United States. Such strategy is uncommon to its competitors and most high-end watches manufacturers.

Over 87% of this piece is manufactured in the United States. The piece's bezel, mid-case and case back are all manufactured in Pennsylvania. Its crown, crown tube, lug bars and screws are all US-made. The stainless steel for all the case components is mined in Western Pennsylvania. Its signature domed sapphire crystal is also grown and processed in the United States.

The Spirit of America is not only an icon of American heritage. Like all Kobold watches, it also features the same ruggedness and durability that is characteristic of these watches. Some of its features include water resistance up to a depth of 100 meters, and an antimagnetic shock resistant casing.

Collaborations

Land Rover introduced its Range Rover vehicle to the United States market twenty years ago. It became the first luxury sports vehicle in the US market. To commemorate its 20th anniversary, Land Rover commissioned Kobold to manufacture a set of handcrafted men and women's wristwatches. These timepieces would go with 40 Range Rover special editions launched in the summer of 2007. Kobold also designed the unique dial for the Range Rover's dashboard clock.
